Continuous Sculpture, 2004
aluminum foil, foam core, rotator, live video surveillance, and monitor
10' x 8' x 5'
The mechanical element of this installation is hidden in another area of the exhibition space that is meant for the viewers to discover via their own curiosity. In the hidden element, there is a low tech, rotating arena. The arena houses a miniature and circular aluminum foil form. The arena rotates slowly while it is under video surveillance. The 'object/video' in the main gallery is a solitary monitor, where there is a continuous and mesmerizing 'live view' abstraction of the surveyed aluminum form. The resulting drawing moves from the right to the left of the screen where the viewer anticipates an end point, an ending that never arrives.
